              "Golden Goddess"

With Christmas just around the corner I wanted to share with you all my favorite moments. The other day I saw River Island's recent holiday look-book and I got in the mood to look at pretty, sparkly, winter party dresses. I associate winter with stuff like parties, events and loads of opportunities to dress up in sparkly things this holiday season, and it's always fun to browse through the party dressesSeasonal combinations of colour that'll work well with gold include chocolate brown, navy and dark burgundy in fall. Try soft peaches, creams and mint greens in the spring. Take into account your skin tone, the colour of your hair and eyes, etc, so that the shade you choose complements your overall personality. I love this light white gold color that you can wear to almost any occasion.

Taylor Swift looked dazzling at the Winter Whites Gala in London on Tuesday evening. The event, which was to raise money for homelessness charity Centrepoint, took place at Kensington Palace, which was rather appropriate as Taylor looked like a princess in her glamorous gown.

Accessories are another great way to get gold into your get up. The colour, mixed with embellishments and textures, will add a touch of glamour to your most basic standbys. Small clutches, or earrings or groupings of bangles act as an accent to other patterns, colors and prints.

                                  Once Upon a Time

"Cinderella "You shall go to the ball"

As Cinderella was sitting all alone, there was a burst of light and a fairy appeared. “Don't be alarmed, Cinderella,” said the fairy. “I know you would love to go to the ball. And so you shall!” “How can I, dressed in rags?” Cinderella replied. “The servants will turn me away!” The fairy smiled. With a flick of her magic wand Cinderella found herself wearing the most beautiful dress she had ever seen.

You don't need to be a fairy tale character to dress like one. Good thing, too. With the San Francisco Ballet's new production of "Cinderella" set to premiere Friday with a sold-out opening-night performance and after-party ball, The ballet is a co-production with the Dutch National Ballet and is inspired by the folktale of an oppressed young woman whose life circumstances change as she triumphs and is bestowed with a vast reward. Various websites put the origins of the story alternately in Greek, Egyptian and Chinese mythology from the first century B.C. to A.D. 860, with versions found in cultures all over the world. Here are a few fashion finds inspired by that glass slipper - for the Cinderella ball or any other incredible event on your calendar.

But what of the glass slipper?

The fabled Cinderella slipper which has captured the hearts and imagination of generations of women around the world, comes to life as The Walt Disney Studios and world-renowned shoe designer Christian Louboutin unveil the ultimate, modern-day Cinderella inspired slipper in Paris, during Haute Couture week July “Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes,” explains designer Christian Louboutin. For Louboutin, the worlds of fantasy and shoe-making collided in perfect harmony when he was invited by Disney to re-imagine Cinderella’s famous slipper in honor of Disney’s global release of the classic masterpiece “Cinderella” Diamond EditionCinderella’s legendary slippers have been re-imagined with the mastery of one of this generation’s most important designers. In the film, A Cinderella Story the slipper is given centre stage. Louboutin has scored the placement coup of the decade. Not only does it fit Cinderella's dainty foot, you see the slipper being manufactured on the silver screen. It was commissioned several years ago, and is based on an antique shoe at the Ferragamo shoe museum. A tiny mule with a crystal heel, it really is a Cinderella slipper. And just as Cinders got to go to the ball, so you too can own your own Cinderella slipper.

The kind people at Ferragamo have put a replica of the shoe into production. It has been named the Princess, presumably because that is what you will turn into when you put it on. It is made of silver satin, woven with silver thread and with a clear perspex heel.

Lightness, beauty and transparency are the words with which Louboutin describes this special pair; they are a dream materialized.  The designer’s magic touch brings this iconic shoe to reality and gives it a modern twist.  Delicate lace adorned with crystals gives these slippers an enchanting look.  Two sparkling butterflies rest prettily on the shoes, one landing on the vamp while the other sits closely behind atop of the crystal covered heel, gently brushing the ankle. Louboutin’s signature red soles add the final dash of excitement as Cinderella’s slippers come alive. “Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale,” explained the designer.
